Blogging 101 – Assignment 3: Say Hello to the Neighbors

I’m 3 days into this Blogging 101 course with WordPress. The third assignment is to find 5 new blogs to follow and add 5 tags to my WordPress reader. Finding new blogs to follow has been easy; my super cool course mates from all over the world are posting some great content and suggesting other awesome blogs to follow.

I’m still getting the hang of tags, but I found some to follow:
blogging101– everyone in the course is tagging their blogs with this, so it’s a great way to see what people are posting

And here are my new friends in my head (Oops, I mean… bloggers that I’ve started following for this assignment):
Mollytopia – WordPress suggested that I follow her. It was a great suggestion.
Javon Monet – Her blog is called “Thus Spoke a Lipstick Lesbian.” Her blog was getting followed based on that title alone, but she’s also a great writer so that makes it even better.
The Kiwi Fruit – Stef the Chef is a Kiwi living in Iceland who takes beautiful pictures of things that I could only dream of seeing in my lifetime.
Slightly Chilled Porcupine – Hand drawn hilariousness.
Girl on the Contrary – I like that some of her posts are super short, but still pack a punch. Her humor speaks to me.
Afternoon of Sundries – I like her writing & her featured images are cute.
Loglines”R”Us – Douglas King churns out film & TV loglines like it’s nothing and then (unless otherwise noted) basically encourages you to steal them.
Welcome to Makandal – Lois passionately blogs on behalf of La Troupe Makandal, a group of talented performers who keep the Afro-Haitian music and dance tradition alive in New York City.
Miss Caly – Adorable DIY craftiness.
Wang and the City – from fashion to food to every other aspect of lifestyle and pop culture, Charles Wang gives me the NYC fabulousness that I need.
La Vie en Noir – She was born in Mauritius, raised in the UK and is moving to France in September with plans to travel all over Europe.  Yeah, I wanna be along for that ride.

I also want to shout out my friends who I was already following before I started Blogging 101. Follow them all; they’re awesome:
A Quirky Something – My #1 homegirl for life Kelli Cayman Cozlin is an actress, writer, comedian, producer and animal lover.  She’s just the best.
Mocha Glam Mom – Tiffany is a fashionista, mommy, and lifestyle blogger who will be officially relaunching her blog very soon and has some exciting things in store for us.  I’ll be posting about it here once she relaunches, but until then feel free to check out the social media links on her page to connect with her.
Tales of an Outgoing Introvert – Much like myself, Christina is a performer who has to deal with inherent shyness while working in a world where you have to be anything but that. Check out her blog for some great self help and personal development advice, as well as her genuine personal reflections and stories.

Now, go read until your brain explodes! *

    1. You’re welcome! I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the blogger that encouraged me to do this over a year ago (can you believe it took me that long to get on here?). Yes, it’s great to have support from these awesome people while I’m getting started. I’m looking forward to sharing your work with them soon!
